My research interests encompass restoration ecology, invasion ecology and agro-ecology. In the field of restoration ecology I am particularly interested in the mechanism of restoration and the corresponding restoration constraints. Regarding invasion ecology the main focus of my research lies on studying the mechanism underlying invasion, and on assessing the ecological impact of invasion. In addition, I am interested in the effects of human land-use management on biodiversity, especially in agricultural areas. Due to my interest in biodiversity patterns I am specialized on diverse indicator groups, such as birds, orthopterans, wild bees, and molluscs. I use a mixture of observational and experimental methods.
